Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a long life paste electrode having a net structure with high mechanical strength by mixing fibers of more than one kind different in diameter. CONSTITUTION:For example 5g of glass fiber with a 15mu diameter is added to 1kg of lead active material and kneaded. For example 3cc of aqueous dispersion of polytetrafluoroethylene, 2g of polyethylene oxide, and 1500cc of water are added to the kneaded powder and furthermore 100cc of diluted sulfuric acid with a specific gravity of 1.3 is added gradually, kneaded, and applied on a grid. The electrode is aged in a moist condition and dried. Sais polytetrafluoroethylene formed fine fibers of 0.1-1mu in diameter in thus obtained electrode, and forms a net structure with the glass fiber. Fiber of polyethylene, polypropylene, or carbon may be used as a fiber with a larger diameter as well as glass fiber.
