Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the overheating of cleaner automatically by using a dual exhaust pipe in which a exhaust purification catalyst converter is built and by switching passages by utilizing the thermal expansion of inner tube due to the temperature rise of gas.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust manifold 2 is connected to the exhaust pipe 1 consisting of the small diameter portion 1a, the large diameter portion 3a, and the outer tube 3. The large diameter portion is provided with the free-ended inner and outer tubes 11 and 12 and the gas inlet 7 for the exhaust purification catalyst converter 4. And, each tube is provided with the first and second valves 17 and 22 which can be freely opened or closed according to the thermal deformation of tube, through which exhaust gas introduced from the small diameter portion 1a is flowed into the converter 4 and further to the outside circumference of the converter 4 through the inlet 7. Also, the inside of the outer tube 3 is provided with the rear inner tube 8 leading to the converter 4 and the by-pass passage 15 formed on the outside circumference of the rear inner tube 8.
