Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound having more powerful antimicrobial action readily and simply in a high yield without using a catalyst and a silylzation agent, by substituting directly acyl group for α-aminoadipyl group at the 7-position of a compound in an inert solvent by an acyl halide.
CONSTITUTION: One mole of a compound shown by the formula I (R1 is an amino-protecting group; R2 and R3 are carboxyl-protecting group; R4 is acetoxy or carbamoyloxy) is reacted with not less than one mole, preferably 4W5 moles of a compound shown by the formula II (R5 is acyl; X is halogen), e.g., phenylacetyl chloride in an inert solvent, e.g., dichloroethane to give the desired compound shown by the formula III (Z is H or R3) or its nontoxic salt. If necessary, R3 is replaced by H or a non-toxic salt. The compound shown by the formula I is prepared by introducing protecting group into the NH2 and COOH groups of cephamycin C obtained by cultivation of microorganism or substance A 16884.
