Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to exactly start a rotor in a specific direction by forming an air gap between a stator and a permanent magnet rotor into a specific shape by varying the configuration of the stator. CONSTITUTION:The air gap formed between the pole of a permanent magnet rotor 6 and the pole of a stator 7 is constituted such that it is separated into a wide air gap 8 and a narrow air gap 9 by providing a staged part 10 in the pole of the stator 7, and the current flowing through stator windings 11 and 12 is controlled by switching elements 14 and 15 in correspondence to the position of the rotor 6 detected by a Hall element 13. By these procedures, at the time when no current flows through the stator windings 11 and 12, the pole center of the rotor 6 stops at a position deviated from the pole center of the stator. Therefore, in the case where a current is caused to flow through the stator windings 11 and 12 to excite the pole of the stator 7, the repulsive and absorptive force between the poles of the rotor 6 and stator 7 acts as a rotation torque and the rotor 6 rotates exactly in a specific direction.
