Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase torque without expanding teeth, by providing a magnetic body on the periphery of a rotor so that the thickness of the magnetic body is so thin that the vicinity of the magnetic-polarity-inversion portion of a permanent magnet is sufficiently staurated magnetically. CONSTITUTION:A stator 18 is composed of magnetic poles 12 to 14 extruded from the inner surface of a yoke 11 and exciter windings 15 to 17 which are wound around the magnetic poles. A rotor 19 is composed of a cylindrical permanent magnet 20 magnetized in the direction of the diameter, and a magnetic body 21 that is contacted to the periphery of the permanent magnet 20. The magnetic body 21 is provided to form a magnetic path which shorts the magnetic fluxes in the vicinity of the magnetic-polarity-inversion portion of the permanent magnet 20, and the thickness of the magnetic body 21 is selected so that the shorted magnetic fluxes are saturated. By providing the magnetic body 21, the shorted magnetic fluxes in the vicinity of the magnetic-polarity-inversion portion are saturated and the magnetic resistance in this portion is increased. Therefore the magnetic fluxes passing through the magnetic poles increase even though the magnetic-polyarity-inversion portion is located at the position lower than the teeth, thereby the torque can be increased.
