Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a crystalline cellulose of good quality without coloration or lowering of polymerization degree, by treating a cellulosic material with cellulase, and mechanically crushing the cellulosic solid obtained by the solid-liquid separation of the treated product.
CONSTITUTION: A purified cellulose of enhanced crystallinity is recovered, by making cellulase (filtrate of a culture solution of Cellulase Onozuka, a cellulase- producing bacterium, etc.) act on a cellulosic material, such as a variety of pulps or cellophane (purified product), at a pH of about 3W7 and at about 25W60°C, and then subjecting the resulting product to solid-liquid separation. The obtained cellulose is crushed by means of a ball mill, rod mill, etc., to obtain titled cellulose powder.
