Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform an emergency shut-off operation without trouble by changing over the crutch mechanically into an automatic shut-off condition after detecting an abnormal flow in the downstream passage of the gate.
CONSTITUTION: When an abnormal fluid pressure is applied to the pressure receiving member 26, the pressure receiving member 26 is oscilated to a downstream side of the flow passage resisting against the energizing force of the energizing mechanism 30 constituted by the weight 29 counter balancing the arm 28 and the arm 28. Then, an engagement of the arm 36 of L-shaped arm 37 is disengaged in cooperation with the oscilation as stated above, the energizing mechanism constituted by the arm 33 and the associated weight 34 changes over the crutch 15 to its disengaged condition, then the gate (not shown) is lowered by its own weight to provide an emergency shut-off of the opening. In this way, a simple arrangement of mechanical system for sensing an abnormal flow and for providing an overall operational system for the crutch cooperatively related to the sensing operation does not cause any trouble to happen in the conventional type of electrical system to perform an emergency shut-off operation.
