Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the operation of a circuit and simplify a device for stopping an engine in its abnormality, by providing the fuel supply section of the engine with a shutoff which is operated by a weak electric current and by directly opening or closing the valve by a signal from an abnormality detector. CONSTITUTION:The fuel inlet section of a fuel injection pump 1 is provided with a shutoff valve 5 which is operated by an abnormality signal from each of abnormality detectors 7 provided at some parts of an engine. A by-pass valve 9, which is opened in the stoppage of the engine to release the pressure of a pipe 6 connected to the inlet port 5a of the shutoff valve 5, is connected to the pipe 6. When the occurrence of an abnormality in the engine is found out by the abnormality detector 7 or an emergency stop switch 10 is turned off, the shutoff valve 5 is closed to cut off fuel supply to stop the engine. Since a relay circuit is not needed, the constituion is simplified and the engine can surely be stopped.
