Abstract
PURPOSE:To make easier rolling operation as well as reduce the occurrence of short- circuit defect by a procedure in which a completely live part having a wideness corresponding to partially charged amount is formed at the beginning portion of coiling of a negative electrode plate, and then the negative electrode plate is coiled through a positive electrode plate and a spacer. CONSTITUTION:The beginning portion of coiling of the negative electrode plate 1 is provided with the completely live part 2 (negative electrode active material is in the state of Cd) of a wideness corresponding to partially charged amount and the nonlive part 3 (in the state of Cd(OH)2). The negative electrode plate 1 is coiled with the positive electrode plate through a spacer into a spiral form to form an electrode plate group. Thus, the beginning portion of coiling the negative electrode plate 1 is easier to coil even if the radius of the beginning portion is small, and also no falling of the negative electrode active material occurs even if the sintered body is cracked.
