Abstract

PURPOSE: To crack and separate the upper and lower glass substrates formed with multiple liquid crystal elements with high accuracy by giving cutting streaks along the cutting lines of the elements on the outside surface of the said substrates then providing fulcrums at the spacings metting the cutting streaks on a surface plate of good accuracy and pressing the central part of the fulcrums.
CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of the upper substrate 6 and lower substrate 7 of the multielements in which liquid crystal 5 is sealed and a multiplicity of the sealed 4 liquid crystal elements 8 are formed are provided with the cutting streaks 9 at the portions of dividing the areas of the elements 8. Next, the multielements are cracked by placing the same on a surface plate 11 of good accuracy and applying load by a rubber needle form presser 13 (hardness 70W80°, end angle 60W90°) at nearly the central part on the opposite side of the surface plate 11 with the spacers 12 as fulcrums.
