Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the dimensional accuracy of cut and separated cells and the yield thereof by applying pressing force to each scribed position between adhesive layers from the outsides of glass plates bonded to each other with a plurality of adhesive layers inbetween to cut the plates.
CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of glass substrates 1, 11 bonded to each other with adhesive layers 24, 24, ... inbetween are linearly scribed by a scribing method, and the substrates are set on stand 29 of the cutter with spacers 26 inbetween so that the surface of substrate 1 to be cut faces the surface of stand 29 and one surface scribed mark agrees with the central axis of pressing jig 27. By pressing jig 27 connected to air cylinder 30 on substrate 11 opposite to substrate 1 with pressing force Fv, a crack is instantaneously propagated along the scribed mark on substrate 1 to cut and separate substrate 1. Substrate 1 is then inverted, and substrate 11 is divided by cutting by a similar way.
