Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate the liquid crystal cell group, which is formed into one body, into individual cells in a high speed with a low cost, by scribing the liquid crystal cell group according to cut lines of the glass substrate and by putting it on the plate having grooves and by applying pressure to it.
CONSTITUTION: After providing scribes 3 and 4 on plural liquid crystal cell groups, scribe line 3 positioned onto the approximate center of groove 8 of metallic plate 7 having steps, and pressure is applied by knife 9 made from elastic materials such as rubber to cut only glass substrate 1 along cut line 10 without cracking substrate 2. Next, scribe line 4 is positioned onto the approximate center of groove 8 of plate 7 with steps, and pressure is applied by knife 9 to cut only substrate 2 along line 11. Obtained liquid crystal cells are put on flat plate 13 and pressure is applied to them by knife 9, or they are caused to pass through a pair of inclined rollers 14, thus eliminating part 12 to be abandoned easily to obtain individual liquid crystal cells.
