Abstract

PURPOSE: To form extremely clear and beautiful woodgrain pattern on Al material, by treating Al material by polarity inverting waveforms of pulses to form a barrier film, and electrolyzing by using polarity inverting waveforms at a voltage less than the peak voltage of the previous treatment, then further applying cathode electrolysis and anode electrolysis.
CONSTITUTION: Al or Al alloy material is degreased in an ordinary method, and is electrolyzed in a specified barrier type film forming electrolyte by using polarity inverting waveforms of pulses or alternating currents, and a barrier film possessing woodgrain lines is formed on the surface. Thus foregoing processed Al material is put in an electrolytic bath containing mainly sulfuric acid, and a colored oxide film is produced in the woodgrain part by using DC or pulse current or DC polarity inverting waveforms at a voltage less than the peak voltage of the current used in the previous process. Next, in the same electrolytic bath, the barrier film formed in the first process is exfoliated by cathode electrolysis to expose the ground surface of Al material, and by anode oxidation in the same electrolytic bath, anode oxide film is formed on the ground surface of the Al material.
