Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance fixing strength and reduce addition elements by preheating recording paper through induction heating and performing flash fixing.
CONSTITUTION: NESA glass 12 coated with a tin oxide thin film 12a is disposed at the opening of the reflecting plate 11 covering a flash discharge tube 1 and a guide plate 13 being a counter electrode is disposed in opposition to this and is grounded. The thin film 12a of the fixing part constituted in this way is connected to the plus end of a high-voltage capacitor 3 and the guide plate 13 to the minus end. As a result of this, at the time when the capacitor 3 is being charged, the full-wave rectified wave of the output high-frequency high voltage of a high-frequency inverter is applied between the thin film 12a and guide plate 13, whereby the dielectric evolution of heat is caused in the recording paper 15. Since the recording paper 15 itself evolves heat in this way, the toners assuming a molten state by absorbing the flash light of the discharge tube 1 fit well to the recording paper 15, thereby accomplishing good fixing. Even more, the inverter being the power source for the flash discharge tube is used commonly for a dielectric heating power source and therefore addition elements become less.
