Abstract
Reactive current compensation in alternating current resistance welding apparatus may in theory be achieved by the series-connection of a capacitor (24) into the secondary circuit of the welding transformer (10). However, the capacitance values required are impractically large. To overcome this, a current transformer (23) with a first and a second winding of which the first has a greater number of turns, is connected with its first winding (21) in series with the secondary winding (12) of the welding transformer (10). The reactive current capacitor (24) is connected across the second winding (22) of the current transformer (23). <IMAGE>
