Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the fixing property of toner images on recording paper by disposing a light transmittable electrode to one portion of the flash light radiation region of a flash discharge tube and a counter electrode interposing recording paper between and applying high-frequency voltage between the both electrodes. CONSTITUTION:NESA glass 5 coated with a tin oxide thin film 5a is disposed at the opening of the reflecting plate 4 covering a flash discharge tube 1 and a guide plate 6 to become a counter electrode is disposed in opposition to this and is grounded. Then, when recording paper 7 is detected by a photo transistor 8b, a switching circuit 12 conducts and high-frequency pulses are applied to a high- frequency switching circuit 10, by which the high-voltage plus voltage having been high-frequency chopped is applied to the thin film 5. Hence, energy is given to the recording paper 7 and the evolution of heat occurs in that portion. With the recording paper 7 having been preheated in this way, the flash of the discharge tube 1 is absorbed and the toners of a molten state fit well, thus good fixing is accomplished.
