Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a disc-shaped cell having less tendency of developing internal shortage circuit during storage and use, by making smooth the surface at which the current collector comes in contact with the negative active material of thin plate or film of light metal. CONSTITUTION:The sealing plate 3 that accommodates the negative active material 1 of thin plate of light metal such as lithium, magnesium, sodium, and aluminum, has bent parts 3a-3c and folded double-structure parts 3d and 3e around the bent parts. The sealing plate 3, which also acts as the current collector, is mirror-finished by buffing, electropolishing, barrel finishing, or the like or is coated with powder of fluorocarbon resin having extremely low friction coeffieient. This arrangement eliminates stress concentration which is applied to the lithium negative electrode 1 when the cell is sealed. Thus, the cracking and damage of the negative electrode are prevented and the internal shortage is minimized.
