Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the resistance to liquid leakage of an alkaline battery by laying a film made of a purine on the copper surface of a negative collector which touches a gasket. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture and a separator 2 are packed into a positive- electrode can 5. A negative collector 6 is filled with a negative agent 4, which is placed on the separator 2. At the same time, a gasket 7 is interposed between the positive-electrode can 5 and the negative collector 6 to hermetically close the battery, thus constituting a button-type battery. The negative collector 6 of such a battery has a curved end 11 and is prepared from, for example, a clad plate which has an inner layer 10 made of either copper or a copper alloy. In addition to that, a surface 12 of the copper layer 10 which touches the gasket 7 is provided with a film 13 made of a purine. The purine has a structural formula as is indicated, and is firmly and densely bound to the copper surface because of its chemically strong activity against copper.
