Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the resistance and enhance the preservation characteristic of an alkaline battery by using a separator prepared by laminating and unifying cellophane films and specified polyethylene films, and locating one of the polyethylene films so that it touches the positive mixture. CONSTITUTION:After a positive mixture 2 is packed in a metal case 1, a separator 3, an electrolyte holding material 4 and a gel-like negative agent 5 are stacked over the mixture 2, in that order. Next, a sealing metal plate 7 is placed on the negative agent 5, with an insulating gasket 6 interposed between the case 1 and the plate 7, to seal the battery, thereby constituting a thin alkaline battery. The separator 3 is formed by laminating a high-density polyethylene film 31 which is prepared by subjecting acrylic acid or methacrylic acid to graft-polymerization, a first cellophane film 32, a polyethylene film 33 which is prepared in the same way as the film 31 and has a lower density than the film 31, and a second cellophane film 34. Here, the film 31 is located on the side of the positive mixture.
