Abstract
PURPOSE:To lengthen the preservation time and increase the resistance to liquid leakage of a thin battery by applying a given saturated polyester-resin, which seals the battery, to the fringe of a separator. CONSTITUTION:A polyester resin 8, which is a saturated copolymer synthesized from terephthalic acid and saturated polyhydric alcohol, is applied to the fringe of a separator 7 which is made of nonwoven-fabric made of ''Vinylon'' . For example, the separator 7 is placed between a negative and a positive collector 5 and 6, which are made of aluminum or the like and the inner surfaces of which are provided with carbon layers 4, a negative electrode 5 made of zinc or the like, and a positive electrode 6 made of manganese dioxide and carbon black. Thus, the spaces between the positive and the negative collectors 1 and 2 are closed by the polyester resin 8 which is applied to the fringe of the separator 7. Through the means mentioned above, the preservation performance and the resistance to liquid leakage of a thin battery can be enhanced.
