Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the heavy-load discharge of a battery, and completely prevent the liquid leakage by providing a water-repellent layer on the gas-side surface of the electrode body made of a porous metal by means of a vapor deposition method. CONSTITUTION:For the purpose of completely preventing the liquid leakage of a battery, as well as enabling a continuous discharge of, for example, over 50mA/ cm<2>, the gas-side surface of an electrode body made of a porous metal which also serves as a collector, is provided with a water-repellent layer of 0.1-1mum through a vapor deposition method. The water-repellent layer is made of, for example, a polytetrafluoroethylene, fluoroethylenepropylene, a polyphenyleneoxide or a polyphenylenesulfide.
