CONSTITUTION: Sludge is heated and pressurized in a sludge swelling tank, admitted into space in an outer casing 6b through pipes 6P, 6Q from a heated sludge transport pipe Pb, pushed up along a spiral flow path, and forcedly elevated and fluidized. In this case, the sludge is heated and concentrated by heating steam sent into a jacket 6c. The sludge is fed into a pan body 6a through an overflow pipe 6j, and horizontally revolved by means of agitating blades 6e. Steam bubbles formed on a circumferential wall ( an inside heating surface of the jacket 6c) of the pan body 6a by the horizontal rotary motion of the sludge are removed from the circumferential wall. The sludge with higher degree of concentration is simultaneously moved to lower portions in order due to convections by the rises of the steam bubbles and the difference of density, discharged outside the pan body 6a through a discharge pipe 6i, and transported to a combustion furnace.
