Abstract

PURPOSE: To control carbon dioxide discharge within blood by a method wherein, in a gas exchanger such as an artificial lung or the like, a material with gas exchanging function is passed through two or more of hermetically closed containers respectively and inside of one container is pressurized while inside of the other container is depressurized.
CONSTITUTION: While blood is entered from an inflow port 3 and passed through a tube orifice 2a of a structure 1 having gas exchanging function within a hermetically closed container 5b through a space 7, carbon dioxide gas is discharged through a capillary pore 2b arranged around the said tube orifice 2a. This carbon dioxide gas is discharged out of a system by a pressure reduced or a evacuated apparatus connected to a suction port 10 through a space 12. On the other hand, to the blood entered into a structure, within a hermetically closed container 5a through a connecting pipe 2a, oxygen is supplied through a capillary pore 2b arranged around a tube orifice 2a and this oxygen rich blood is discharged out of a system through a space 8 and an outflow port 4. Thereby, an oxygen supply amount to blood and a carbon dioxide gas discharge amount from blood within a structure are freely controlled.
