Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a gas-permeable membrane cell capable of preventing the occurrence of damage and pinhole in the membrane by providing a softness for control wall or its surface in the flow direction of gas, provided inside the gas- permeable membrane cell.
CONSTITUTION: A gas-permeable membrane cell consists of a gas-permeable membrane 1, a partition wall 3, a gas inlet 4, and a gas outlet 5. A gas mixture, e.g., air (a), is introduced into the cell and passed through the permeable membrane 1 to obtain a permeated gas (b) enriched with highly permeable gas, and impermeated gas is discharged to the outside of the cell. In this case, a control wall 2 controlling the flow direction of gas is provided in the cell in such a way as to make the flow rate of gas faster at the inlet than that at the outlet in order to reduce the accumulating effect of impermeable gas. In short, the distance t1 in the walls 2 near the inlet is made wider than the distance t2 near the outlet. At the same time, a softness is provided for the walls 2 or their surfaces in order to prevent effectively the occurrence of damage and pinholes in the membrane 1.
