Abstract
PURPOSE: To miniaturize a gas exchanger, and to obtain the exchanger high efficient, by a mechanism wherein one side of not less than two gas exchanging film structures particularly disposed into a vessel of the gas exchanger for an artificial lung is connected to a gas feed source and the other side to a gas sucking source respectively.
CONSTITUTION: Gas exchanging film structures 1 with capillary tube holes 2 are mounted into a vessel 5 provided with blood inflow and outflow ports 3, 4. The one ends 1a of the structures 1 are blocked, and the other ends 1a to which hollow portions or the capillary tube holes 2 are opened are each maintained to partition walls 6, 6 in penetrating shapes. An oxygen feed pipe 9 or a suction pipe 10 communicated with a vacuum device is connected to space 7, 8 at the outsides of the partition walls 6, 6. Pressurized oxygen supplied to the space 7 is fed to blood in the vessel 5 through the capillary tube holes 2 of the structures 1 at the right side. Meanwhile, when reducing the pressure of the space 8 through the suction pipe 10, the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the capillary tube holes 2 of the structures 1 at the left side lowers, and carbon dioxide in the blood is discharged into the capillary tube holes 2.
