Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain coating excellent in rust proofness and strength without application of forming film treatment by the procedure in which a nitride layer is formed on the surface of an iron steel mateial by a soft nitriding method and then coating a paint directly on the nitride layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of an iron steel material is treated by a gas-soft nitriding method to form a soft nitride layer, where fats and oils present on the surface are burned and therefore the surface is cleaned and nitride layer excellent in rust proofness is formed at the same time. Then, the surface of the nitride layer is directly coated with a paint without the application of the forming film treatment. Thus, without the necessity for degreasing, washing, and forming film treatment, rust-proof paint-coated products can be obtained by simplified operation at low cost.
