Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove dust adhered to catalyst supports so as to prevent increase in press. loss in the reactor, by installing at the outside of the catalyst supports moving beds of particles which are larger than the catalyst particles.
CONSTITUTION: Dirty gas together with a reducing agent, e.g., NH3, is fed through an exhaust gas inlet duct 8 to a reactor 1, where it is denitrated while passing through a catalyst layer 2 and moving beds 4 of particles larger than the catalyst particles, it is then led to an exhaust gas outlet duct 9. Prescribed quantity of the catalyst in the catalyst layer 2 is drawn off through a catalyst-transferring line 6 and is, after removal of the adhered material, returned to the catalyst layer 2. Prescribed quantity of the particles, e.g., porcelain particles, in the moving beds 4 is also taken out through a particle-transferring line 7 and is, after removal of the adhered material, returned to the moving beds 4. While transferring, the particles in the moving bed 4 collide or contact with the catalyst support 3 so as to separate and remove the dust adhered to the support 3. Because the meshes of the particle support 4 are wide, the dust adhered to the support 5 is just a little so that it may be neglected.
