Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the adhesion of dust to a catalyst layer by a procedure in which a metal netting is provided in front of a waste gas inflow side of the catalysis layer to arrest the dust present in the waste gas and at the same time the arrested dust is blown toward the inflow side by means of a blower provided in proximity to the metal netting.
CONSTITUTION: The metal netting 5 of a smaller mesh than the size of the void space of a catalyst is provided near the inlet of the catalyst layer 4, and two blowers 6 by which the dust arrested on the surface of the metal netting 5 is blown off are provided between the metal netting 5 and the catalyst layer 4. Thus, a comparatively greater weight of dust among acompanied dust is dropped inside a duct and then deposited in a hopper 2, while lighter weight dust passing through a baffle 3 is arrested by the metal netting 5 to prevent the adhesion of the dust to the catalyst layer. The arrested dust is collected in the hopper 2 by means of air blasted periodically from the soot blowers 6.
