Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:D-α-(4-Hydroxypyrazino [2,3-f] quinoline-3-carboxyamide)-P- hydroxyphenyl-acetamide penicillanic acid and its salt.
USE: Antibiotics having improved antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and negative bacteria and bacillus pyocyaneus.
PROCESS: Amoxicillin or its derivative solution in an organic solvent is added dropwise and reacted with a suspension of 4-hydroxy-pyrazino [2,3-f]quinoline-3-carboxylic acid or its reactive derivative, e.g. acid azide, halide, or anhydride, in an organic solvent at room temperature, and the reaction product is purified by the conventional method to give the objective compound. 4-Hydroxy-pyrazino [2,3-f] quinoline-3-carboxylic acid in the form of free acid is preferably reacted with amoxicillin in the presence of a condensing agent, e.g. dicyclohexylcarbodiimide.
