Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An acid of formula I having D-configuration at 6-position side chain, its pharmacologically permissible salt, or its easily hydrolyzable ester.
EXAMPLE: D-α-( 4-Ethyl-2, 3-dioxo-1-piperazinocarboxamido )-α-3, 4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid.
USE: Antibacterial agent effective as a remedy for bacterial diseases caused by gram- negative and gram-positive bacteria.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I or its salt is prepared by reacting a compound II, its salt, or its ester, with an acylating compound III, e.g. an acid chloride, and if necessary, eliminating the protecting group from the product. The product thus obtained can be converted to a physiologically hydrolyzable ester.
