Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to record the neutral tint with a drive circuit of simple constitution by controlling the time to energize a thermal element via the shift register. CONSTITUTION:When recording data 3, 4 are written into shift registers 1, 2, gate 32 is opened by energizing pulse of timer circuit 30, decoder 33, switching circuit 34 which changes energization, matrix circuit 36, register 2, and switching circuit 29 are coupled together during the period T of pulse width 3. Electric current from the recording electric power 11 is applied to thermal element 40... of recording head 29 via matrix circuit 29. Subsequently, after the lapse of the pulse period T, the register 2 is preset by the circuit 30 such that the record contents of the register 1 are memorized in the register 2. During the subsequent period T of pulse width 2, in accordance with the memorized contents of the register 2, the electric current of the circuit 11 is applied to the predetermined element 40 to control the period of electric current application.
