Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain the title controlling method capable of maintaining the recording density uniformly without any medium of an expensive power source or mannual operation by a constitution wherein a thermal recording device itself selects a driving time in accordance with the heating characteristic of the thermal head of its own. CONSTITUTION:Simultaneously when a current detecting circuit 5 detects that the total current flowing through heating elements of the thermal head 1 reaches a prescribed reference current value, an information indicating the total numbers of driving heating elements is supplied by a gate 6. While a driving control information generating circuit 7 memorizes an information on the width of a driving pulse corresponding to the number of the driving heating elements beforehand, it reads out an information on the width of a driving pulse corresponding to recording pattern data being supplied and outputs the same to a latch circuit 8, and through the intermediary of said circuit, a driving pulse generating circuit 9 generates the driving pulse in a driving circuit 4. During the period of stoppage, the arbitrary number of heating elements are driven, while the information on the width of the driving pulse is generated by increasing the number of the driving heating elements one by one, and thus the driving time is controlled in accordance with the heating characteristic of the thermal head.
