CONSTITUTION:Simultaneously when a current detecting circuit 5 detects that the total current flowing through heating elements of the thermal head 1 reaches a prescribed reference current value, an information indicating the total numbers of driving heating elements is supplied by a gate 6. While a driving control information generating circuit 7 memorizes an information on the width of a driving pulse corresponding to the number of the driving heating elements beforehand, it reads out an information on the width of a driving pulse corresponding to recording pattern data being supplied and outputs the same to a latch circuit 8, and through the intermediary of said circuit, a driving pulse generating circuit 9 generates the driving pulse in a driving circuit 4.
