Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform an improve high-speed recording with a power source of a comparatively low current capacity, by a method wherein, in a simultaneous driving type heat-sensitive recorder, an output to shift registors does not exceed a current capacity at the power source. CONSTITUTION:Shift registors 2, having the number of bits being equivalent to that of heating resistors 4, are divided into 4 groups SR1-SR4, which are connected to output control terminals P1-P4 for ON, OFF- controlling the output of their respective groups. Now, based on a pattern (memory 7) of a recording signal equivalent to a line inputted to the shift registors 2, an operation control unit 6 finds a sum total value of a current flowing simultaneously to the heat resistors 4. If the value exceeds a current capacity I0 of a power source 5, the control unit 6 decides the control signal sent to the control terminals P1-P4 so that a part (for example, R1 and R4) of the groups R1-R4 of the heating resistors 4 are driven selectively. Other groups are then driven in order.
