Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the turn off time of SCR, by applying the positive charging voltage of the first capacitor to the gate of SCR and by applying the negative potential charging voltage of the second capacitor at turning off with trigger.
CONSTITUTION: The main SCR 1 is turned off until time t1 and the first capacitor C4 is charged up with positive potential via the load 3, resistor 5, and diode 6 from the power supply 6. The voltage V9 is fed to the gate of SCR 7 from the control circuit 9 at time t1, conducting SCR7. The charging voltage of C4 is fed to the gate of the main SCR1, turning on SCR1 and flowing the load current I1. At time t2, the commutation SCR12 is conducted with the voltage V13 of the commutation control circuit 13, the charge voltage of C10 is fed as reverse voltage between the anode and cathode of SCR1, charging up the second C14. Simultaneously, the voltage V18 of the second control circuit 18 triggers SCR 16, applying reverse voltage between the gate and cathode of SCR1 and reducing the turn off time of the main SCR 1. Thus, the constitution can be simplified and the power supply can be of small size.
