Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a gate circuit of gate turn-off thyristor GTO which does not require an auxiliary power supply and has the generated loss reduced according as the anode current is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: When GT022 is ignited, the current flows to load 26 through power supply 21, GT022 and primary winding W1 of current transformer 24, and the current is induced to secondary winding W2 of current transformer 24 during the period, when transformer 24 is not saturated, to charge capacitor 232 to the polarity shown in the figure through diode 233. When the voltage of capacitor 232 becomes a prescribed value, the magnetic flux of current transformer 24 is saturated to finish the charging of capacitor 232, and the voltage is held.
