Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a gate circuit of gate turn-off thyristor GTO which does not require an auxiliary power supply and has the generated loss reduced according as the anode current is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: When GT022 is ignited, the current flows to load 26 through power supply 21, GT022 and primary winding W1 of current transformer 24, and the current is induced to secondary winding W2 of current transformer 24 during the period, when transformer 24 is not saturated, to charge capacitor 232 to the polarity shown in the figure through diode 233. When the voltage of capacitor 232 becomes a prescribed value, the magnetic flux of current transformer 24 is saturated to finish the charging of capacitor 232, and the voltage is held. Next, when auxiliary SCR 231 is ignited, the charge of capacitor 232 is discharged through the cathode and the gate of GT022 and and SCR 231, and GT022 is turned off because nogatiue gate signals are given to GTO22. When GT022 is turned off, the current which flew to load 26 flows circularly in the loop of load 26, circular- current diode 25 and tertiary winding W3 of current transformer 24. Since the current flowing to W3 at this time has a polarity opposite to the polarity at the GTO conduction time, the magnetic flux to current transformer 24 is reset to provided for the next cycle.
