Abstract

1437107 Arc current supply VSES NI PROEKT KONSTRUCT I TEKHNOLOGICHE INST ELEKTROSVAROCH OBORUDOVANIA 10 Nov 1973 52304/73 Heading H2H A current supply for pulsed arc welding comprises a full wave rectification circuit 1, a series smoothing choke 7, and a controllable switch, e.g. a thyristor 8 in parallel with the choke. The thyristor is fired by circuit 10 a predetermined period after the start of a full wave rectified pulse. The firing pulse may also switch thyristors 13, 14 off and 15, 16 on thereby increasing the output voltage. In alternative embodiments, a pulse delay may be incorporated between circuit 10 and the gates of thyristors 15, 16 and thyristors may be provided to shunt both diodes 5 and 6 as well as choke 7. The circuit maintains a constant arc current between pulses.
