Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain the improvements of dielectric strength and brightness by composing a fluorescent-substance layer of several zinc-sulfide layers and mixed layers vapor-deposited alternatively.
CONSTITUTION: To glass substrate 1, clear electrode 2 of tin oxide and fluorescent substance layer 3 are provided through vapor-phase growth. Fluorescent substance layer 3 is made of several alternate zinc-sulfide layers 3a containing 5% of manganese as an inactive agent and mixed layers 3b of copper sulfide and zinc sulfide at a ratio of 1 to 9 through electron beam vacuum vapor deposition. Since several layers are laminated, transparency can be secured through the action of zinc sulfide of mixed layers 3b and excellent junctions with zinc-sulfide layers 3a are obtained; and then, unevenness in luminescence does not occur because of the multi- layer and the luminescence is made uniform, so that the entire brightness will improve and the dielectric strength will also improves
