Abstract
PURPOSE: To conduct deodorization described in the title efficiently and inexpensively, by decomposing malodorous substances with an aq. soln. contg. available bromine and aq. chlorinous substances, by electrolyzing the soln., after addn. of hydrochloric acid in order to decrease carbonic acid radicals, so as to activate the soln., and by ciculating and utilizing it.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas or exhaust liq. contg. oxidizable, odorous substances, and CO2 gas or carbonic acid radical is brought into contact with an aq. soln. contg. available bromine and chlorinous substances, such as NaOBr and NaCl. For the aq. soln., a soln. of available bromine content 10 mg/l and of a pH not lower than 10 is used. The malodorous substances are oxidized, decomposed, and removed. The aq. soln. having been treated is electrolyzed at a cell voltage 3W7 V, current density 10W30 A/dm2 after carbonic acid redical contained in the soln. is decreased by the addn. of hydrochloric acid, simultaneously pH being lowered to zW1. For example, NaCl produces NaOCl, which activates NaBr, HBr, which are modification products of available bromine, to form available bromine, so that the soln. can be reutilized.
