Abstract

PURPOSE: To decompose most part of organic components into gas and to minimize sludge generation, an electrolytic bath with a number of insoluble electrodes is installed contiguously to an ozone oxidizing bath with built-in slanting plates.
CONSTITUTION: Original waste water moves from the inlet 1, is distributed by the distribution nozzles 2 and enters the ozone treatment bath 3. The distribution nozzles 7 makes ozone into very fine bubbles to flow up in the bath 3. The original waste water, while flowing down in the bath 3, is acted by slanting plates 4 and effectively contacts ozone, thus forming into ozone-containing water, and enters the electrolytic bath 18 through the connection opening 19. Into the electrolytic bath 18 inserted are a number of elongated, oblong, insoluble electrode plates 14, to which specified voltage is applied. The waste water, while flowing up between the electeodes 4, is electrolyzed and decomposed into gas. The decomposition is considerably accelerated because of ozone that the water contains. Nondecomposed material floats up as scum and is discharged through the tank 19 that separates and stores decomposed material.
