Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cultivating material, capable of improving the moisture state in a growth environment, keeping the moisture state proper, providing high-quality plants in high yield, excellent in environmental protecting properties and suitable for Solanum melongena L., Phaseolus vulgaris L., etc., by mixing a material for growing the plants such as a soil component with a specific adsorbent, etc. CONSTITUTION:The cultivating material for preventing root rot is produced by mixing a material for growing plants such as a soil component, a culture soil, peat-moss or Osmanda Root (R) with an adsorbent capable of carrying moisture such as active carbon, an artificial zeolite or silica gel, compounding both, etc. Furthermore, the cultivating material is obtained by saturating, e.g. the artificial zeolite with Ca ions, then adding about 10% cement as a binder thereto, granulating the resultant mixture into a spherical shape having 1-2mm diameter, removing eluting components, adding 2-3wt.% prepared granulated material to a sphagnum in a state of a sufficient moisture content and uniformly mixing both.

"Root rot" is a disease of plants, mostly caused by fungi. This disease is one of the inconvenient obstacles frequently encountered when growing plants. When root rot appears, the plant causes poor growth, the leaf edge turns brown or purple-brown, and it wilts rapidly, and the rootlets brown and rot. There are not a few cases of death such as dead-fall. It often occurs in eggplant, green beans, strawberries, orchids, cyclamen, etc. The cause of root rot is that when the water state is inappropriate in the cultivation environment, the plant body, especially the root part, becomes unhealthy and basidiomycetes are parasitic. In rice, etc., the generation of substances such as hydrogen sulfide that have a harmful effect on the enzymes of plant root cells is also a cause. Root rot caused by poor water condition appears when crops are cultivated in a wetland or when water is excessively supplied, so that water management is important. However, cultivation environment such as cultivated land,
In culture and cultivation using conventional plant growth materials such as culture soil and peat moss, it is not easy to create and maintain an appropriate water state so that root rot does not occur, and especially plant species that are prone to develop (root rot). It becomes more difficult in susceptible species). If it is possible to prevent root rot development by improving the water condition, it will be easier to cultivate and cultivate sensitive species and improve the quality, so it is a highly effective "root rot prevention cultivation material".
Development is awaited.

The adsorbent capable of supporting water, such as activated carbon, artificial zeolite, and silica gel, can control the release and uptake of water required by plants, and therefore has a function of keeping the water condition of the cultivation environment in a good condition for growth. Due to this function of the adsorbent, the cultivation material for preventing root rot exerts an action of always maintaining an appropriate state without falling into excess or excess of water.

A method for preparing a root rot prevention cultivating material (test cultivating material) used in this example will be described. Artificial zeolite (obtained by subjecting coal ash to alkali treatment, including non-zeolites such as zeolite components as well as carbon components similar to activated carbon) is saturated with Ca ions, and then about 10% cement is added as a binder to increase the diameter. The particles were granulated into spherical particles of 1 to 2 mm and washed thoroughly with running water to remove the eluted components. The granules were added to sphagnum moss in a sufficiently water-containing state in an amount of about 2 to 3% by weight, and stirred well so as to be uniformly mixed. A mixed material of artificial zeolite and sphagnum moss was used as a test cultivation material.

Phalaenopsis seedlings obtained by the shoot apex breeding method (a young plant having about 2 young leaves and 2-3 radicles)
Was planted in a sphagnum moss (conventional cultivation material) packed in a cylindrical plastic container (diameter: 3 cm, height: 5 cm), and placed in a greenhouse at about 23 ° C. for cultivation. At this time, the sphagnum was soaked with a sufficient amount of water. The moth orchid seedlings were similarly planted on the test cultivated materials and cultivated under the same conditions. 40
Cultivation for ~ 50 days resulted in mature Phalaenopsis individuals. In the cultivation process, root rot occurred in about 40% of individuals using the conventional cultivated material, but the incidence rate of the tested cultivated material was significantly reduced to 10%.

In order to increase the number of obtained moth orchid individuals,
The plants were divided and planted in a flower pot slightly larger than the plastic container, and the second cultivation was performed. In the conventional method, sphagnum moss was used only, but in the new method, artificial zeolite was added as in the first cultivation.
In this cultivation, liquid fertilizer (Mg, C with advanced chemical fertilizer composition is used.

Fertilizer diluted twice was sometimes applied in small amounts. In the conventional method, about 10% of root rot was observed in the second cultivation, but in the new method, the root rot was reduced to 2-3%.

Further, in order to propagate the Phalaenopsis orchid, the plant was replanted for the second strain and cultivated again (third cultivated). A larger flower pot was used, and cultivation was performed in the same manner as the previous time. Even in the third cultivation, the incidence rate of root rot was decreased in the test cultivation material.

From the above test results, the test cultivating material prepared by adding the artificial zeolite has the effect of significantly reducing the root rot occurrence of Phalaenopsis orchid, as compared with the conventional cultivating material only of sphagnum moss. It became clear. It is considered that the useful function of the zeolite component and the activated carbon-like component contained in the artificial zeolite is helpful in reducing the generation rate. This useful function is based on the fact that, based on the adsorptivity, functions such as regulation of water content, adsorption / removal of harmful components, imparting fungal resistance and reducing morbidity, etc. are exhibited. In order to grow well and produce a moth orchid with high commercial value at a high yield, it is necessary to grow roots well. Artificial zeolite was found to effectively control the water status of the medium, which is essential for the successful growth of roots, and help the healthy growth of phalaenopsis. In addition to root rot, orchids easily suffer from various diseases such as black rot, soft rot, and carbon disease due to the subtle inadequacy of water management (irrigation). It is not easy to have knowledge. The artificial zeolite can be used as a powerful cultivation support material when cultivating a plant that requires a complicated technique such as a phalaenopsis. The use of artificial zeolite does not require a high level of knowledge for cultivation, and can economically and inexpensively reproduce and supply high-quality plants.

When the pH of the conventional cultivated material and the test cultivated material was measured during cultivation, the pH was 5.1, which was acidic in the former case, and 6.7, which was almost neutral, in the latter case. there were. This acidification is considered to be mainly caused by organic acids secreted from plant roots. Acidification of the cultivation environment not only creates an inconvenient condition for the growth of phalaenopsis but also promotes the activity of fungi which cause root rot. Due to the buffering capacity of the artificial zeolite, the test cultivating material does not show a decrease in pH, so that a convenient growth environment can be maintained.

The cultivation material for preventing root rot according to the present invention comprises:
When growing sensitive plants such as eggplant, green beans, strawberries, cyclamen, orchids that are prone to root rot, it improves the water condition in the growth environment and keeps it properly to prevent root rot occurrence and promote healthy growth. High quality plants can be obtained with high yield. High production of high-quality plants produces great economic effects for farmers and other producers. When using artificial zeolite to make root rot prevention cultivation material,
It also contributes to the effective recycling of the coal ash, which is a social problem in terms of environmental protection.
