Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 ［発明の産業分野］ 本発明は、有料番組の聴取料金の課金処理を、
加入者毎に有効に行うことができる双方向
CATVシステムに関する。
［発明の背景］ 一般にCATVシステムにおいては無料放送と
有料放送とがあり、有料放送においては各加入者
が視聴した情報を一旦加入者端末内のレジスタに
格納し、これをセンター側のポーリングによつて
読み取る作業が行われている。
［従来技術の説明］ 従来この様なシステムとして、第５図および第
６図に示すものがあつた。
第５図において、１はデータ系・映像系の送出
と、上りデータ受信を行うセンターを示してお
り、６は映像ソース、７はデータ通信、視聴コン
トロール課金処理を行うCPU、８はCATV回線
にデータを送出するFSK送信機、９は電話回線
を用いて加入者から送られてくる上りデータを受
信するためのモデムである。
２は加入者宅内に設置されるCATV端末機で
あり、１０はセンターより送られるデータを復調
するFSKレシーバ、１１は加入者の操作や下り
データ通信に基づいて端末機の視聴制御を行な
い、また、上り通信モジユール３と必要な情報を
交換するコントローラＡ、１２はコンバータ、１
３はデスクランブラであり、４はTVセツト、５
は電話回線の交換網である。
第６図は上り通信モジユール３の構成を示すも
のであり、１４は加入者端末からセンターに送る
上りデータを電話回線に送出する電話モデム、１
５はコントローラＡとの通信や後述するイベント
レジスタ１６の管理や上りデータの送出等を行う
コントローラＢ、１６は有料番組視聴履歴を格納
するためのイベントレジスタである。
［従来技術の動作・作用］ 次に上述の構成からなる双方向CATVシステ
ムにおける課金方式を説明する。
コントローラＡは、映像信号中の有料番組識別
コード（イベントコード）をデイスクランブラ１
３を介して読み取り、それを上り通信モジユール
３内のコントローラＢに通知する。コントローラ
Ｂはイベントレジスタ１６を見て当該イベントコ
ードが存在しない場合、新規のイベントとしてイ
ベントレジスタ１６に登録する。この様に加入者
が新たに有料番組を選択する毎にイベントコード
がイベントレジスタ１６に格納されて行くのであ
る。イベントレジスタ１６の記憶容量は全加入者
に対して同一であり、最大この記憶容量の大きさ
分の有料番組の視聴情報が蓄えられることにな
る。
記憶容量一杯にイベントコードが蓄積されると
それ以上の有料番組の視聴はできなくなる。
この様にイベントレジスタ１６に蓄えられた視
聴情報は定期的にセンター１に通知される。即ち
センター１からポーリングによつて視聴情報収集
の命令が送られると、上り通信モジユール３内の
コントローラＢはその時点のイベントレジスタ１
６の内容を読み出し、電話モデム１４で変調した
上で交換網５を介してセンター１に上りデータと
して通知する。センター１ではこれを電話モデム
９で復調し、CPU７でこの情報をもとに課金処
理を行うのである。
［従来技術の欠点］ この様に上りデータ通信を電話回線によつて行
う場合、１軒あたりのデータ収集に要する時間は
30秒程度であり、システム規模が大きくなるにつ
れ、全体の収集が終了するまでの時間が増大し、
時として数日にわたる場合がある。この間に端末
機を分解しイベントレジスタ１６の細工を加えて
イベントコードを消去すれば課金をのがれること
ができる。
逆にこの様な不正盗視の損害を抑制するため
に、イベントレジスタの容量を小さくすれば、そ
れだけ収入のチヤンスを失うという欠点を有して
いた。
［発明の概要］ この発明は、各加入者毎に異なる容量のイベン
トレジスタを任意に設定できる様にして各加入者
ごとの使用限界を定め、課金時のリスクを最小限
に抑えることのできる双方向CATVシステムを
提供することを目的とするものであり、ポーリン
グ時に加入者端末のイベントレジスタを変更でき
ることを特徴とする。
［実施例］ 本発明の実施例について、第１図乃至第４図を
もとに説明する。尚、従来技術において説明した
部分と同一の部分には同一符号を付して、その説
明を省略する。
第１図のセンター１においては、加入者の端末
アドレスやその加入者の視聴コントロール情報の
保持された加入者フアイル１９がCPU７に接続
されている。この視聴コントロール情報には、加
入者の支払い履歴や盗視聴前科の有無等を含ま
れ、支払いの悪い加入者や盗視前歴のある加入者
に対しては有料番組サービスを制限する判断基準
となる。そしてこの判断基準に基づいてクレジツ
トリミツト（CL）が加入者毎に設定され、加入
者フアイル１９に格納される。CPU７はこの加
入者フアイルの情報をコマンド形式でCATV回
線を介して各加入者宛にポーリングを行う。尚、
加入者フアイル１９の内容はセンター側において
オンライン端末２０や定期的なバツチ処理によつ
て追加、変更、削除が可能であり、前述のポーリ
ングによつて各加入者の端末２および上り通信モ
ジユール３に反映される。
第３図はこのポーリングのコマンド形式を示
し、第４図は端末側に反映される加入者フアイル
を擬似的に示すものであり、端末は自己のアドレ
スを持つコマンドを受けとると、このコマンド内
に含まれるクレジツトリミツトを上り通信モジユ
ール３内のメモリ２１に格納し、イベントレジス
タ１６の論理的な使用可能範囲を１５のコントロ
ーラＢによつて設定する。論理的は使用可能範囲
が大きければ大きい程より多くの有料番組の視聴
が可能となるものであり、収入の多く見込める信
用ある加入者に対してはクレジツトリミツトを高
く設定し、逆に盗視前歴のある者についてはクレ
ジツトリミツトを０にして、サービス供給を停止
することができる。
有料番組の課金については、この各加入者毎に
設定されたイベントレジスタに基づき従来と同様
に行われる。
［他の実施例］ 上記実施例では上り通信モジユール３を本体２
とは別に設けたが、これを本体２に上りデータ通
信機能をもたせても構わない。
［発明の効果］ 本発明によれば、各加入者毎にポーリングによ
つて有料番組の視聴可能限度を設定できるので、
不正視聴者にはサービス提供を停止させて制裁を
加え、また信頼ある加入者からは十分な聴取料を
課金できる。従つてクレジツトリミツトの小さい
信頼性のおけない加入者が再度、不正を行つたと
しても被害を最小限に留めることができ、システ
ムオペレータの収入が十分に確保される。
【図面の簡単な説明】
第１図乃至第４図は、本発明に係る双方向
CATVシステムを示すもので、第１図はセンタ
ー側及び端末側の構成を示す図、第２図は端末側
の上り通信モジユールの構成を示す図、第３図は
センターより各端末に送出されるポーリングコマ
ンドデータの形式、第４図は端末側に反映される
加入者フアイルを擬似的に示す図であり、第５図
及び第６図は従来の双方向CATVシステムを示
し、第５図はセンター側及び端末側の構成を示す
図、第６図は端末側の上り通信モジユールの構成
を示す図である。 ７……CPU、１５……コントローラｂ、１６
……イベントレジスタ、１９……加入者フアイ
ル、２１……メモリ。

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. １ 双方向データ通信機能を有するCATVシス
    テムにおいて、センター側には視聴コントロール
    情報に加えて各加入者ごとの有料番組の視聴可能
    限界を定めたクレジツトリミツトを格納した加入
    者フアイルと、前記クレジツトリミツトをコマン
    ド形式にして各端末に送出するCPUを備え、端
    末側には有料番組の視聴履歴を格納するイベント
    レジスタと、センターより送られた前記クレジツ
    トリミツトを格納するメモリと、前記メモリ内に
    格納されたクレジツトリミツトに基づき前記イベ
    ントレジスタの論理的な使用可能範囲を変更する
    コントローラとを備え、各加入者毎に有料番組の
    視聴可能限界を設定したことを特徴とする双方向
    CATVシステムにおける有料番組視聴可能限界
    設定方式。
