Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
本発明は、新規なソリツドゴルフボールに関す
る。 ソリツドゴルフボールとしては、従来より内核
芯とそれを被覆する外皮とからなる２層構造のツ
ーピースボールが主流を占めているが、このボー
ルは糸巻きボールに比べて耐カツト性がすぐれて
いるという長所を有するものの、スピンがかかり
にくく、糸巻きボールのようなドライバーシヨツ
ト時のホツプする弾道を得ることや、シヨートア
イアン時にグリーン上でぴたりと止めることが難
しいといわれている。これは、このボールの慣性
モーメントが大きいことと、外皮が硬く、シヨツ
ト時の変形が少ないためボールとクラブフエース
との接触面積が小さく、フエース上ですべりやす
いためであると考えられる。 本発明の目的は、そのような欠点を解消するた
めになされたものであり、ボールにバツクスピン
がかかりやすく、フエース上でのすべりを少なく
して、ボールの飛距離を伸ばし、かつコントロー
ル性を改善し、重量面でもPGA規格に合格でき
るソリツドゴルフボールを提供することである。 すなわち、本発明は、内核芯、中間層および外
皮からなる３層構造であり、内核芯は、後述の特
定のゴム組成物を加熱加圧成形（加流）したもの
であつて、かつ、直径が32mm以下で比重が1.50以
上であり、中間層は、後述の特定のゴム組成物を
加熱加圧成形したものであつて、かつ、内核芯の
比重に反比例して低比重で、その厚みは3.2〜5.4
mmであり、外皮は、厚みが１〜３mmで、外皮の硬
度がシヨアーＤ硬度計で64以下であることを特徴
とするソリツドゴルフボールである。なお、本発
明においては、外皮の硬度をシヨアーＤ硬度計で
測定しているが、これは硬度を測定する対象が外
皮であつて、かつ外皮の材質が樹脂であるため、
外皮の硬度測定にあたつては、シヨアーＤ硬度計
で測定するのが適しているからである。 本発明のゴルフボールにおいて、内核芯の直径
は前記のように32mm以下にする。これは、慣性モ
ーメントを小さくするため内核芯を高比重型にし
ているので、内核芯がそれ以上大きくなると重量
がPGA規格に合格しないためである。また内核
芯の比重を1.50以上にしたのは糸巻きボールなみ
にスピン量を高めホツプする弾道を得、かつコン
トロール性を増したいという要請に基づくもので
ある。このような内核芯を得るためのゴム組成物
は、従来のツーピースボール用の内核芯用組成物
より重量調整剤としての酸化亜鉛の配合を多くし
て、ポリブタジエンゴム100部（重量部、以下同
様）、アクリル酸亜鉛またはメタクリル酸亜鉛10
〜50部、酸化亜鉛10〜150部および架橋剤ないし
加硫剤としてのジクミルパーオキサイド１〜５部
からなる組成物でもつて得られる。 本発明のゴルフボールにおいて、外皮の硬度を
シヨアーＤ硬度計で64以下にするのは、シヨツト
時の変形を従来より若干多くしてボールとクラブ
フエースとの接触面積を多くし、フエース上での
すべりを防止して、ボールにスピンがよりかかり
やすくし、ボールのコントロール性を改善するた
めである。つまり、外皮の硬度がシヨアーＤ硬度
計で64より高くなると、外皮が硬くなり、シヨツ
ト時の変形が少ないためボールとクラブフエース
との接触面積が小さくなつて、ボールがフエース
上ですべり、ボールにスピンがかかりにくくなつ
て、シヨートアイアン時にボールをグリーン上で
ピタリと止めることがむつかしくなり、ボールの
コントロール性が悪くなる。 そして、外皮は硬度がシヨアーＤ硬度計で64以
下で45までのものを使用することができる。外皮
の硬度がシヨアーＤ硬度計で45より低くなると、
ボールの耐カツト性が低下して、実用的でない。
上記のような条件を満たし得る外皮を形成するに
あたつて使用される樹脂材質としては、例えばデ
ユポン社より市販されているアイオノマー樹脂サ
ーリン1652（商品名）、サーリン1601（商品名）な
どがあげられる。なお、外皮を形成するための外
皮用組成物においては、着色などの目的で上記ア
イオノマー樹脂に二酸化チタン、酸化亜鉛などを
適宜配合することができる。この外皮の厚みは１
〜３mmにされる。外皮の厚みを１〜３mmにするの
は、外皮の厚みが１mmより薄い場合には、耐カツ
ト性が低下し、外皮の切断が生じ、実用的でな
く、外皮の厚みが３mmより厚くなると、ボール直
径を一定に保つためには、それに応じて内核芯を
小さくしなければならず、そのため反撥弾性が低
下し、また打撃時のフイーリングが硬くなるから
である。 本発明において、中間層は内核芯を高比重にし
たため、それによつてボール重量が増加しPGA
規格に合格できなくなるのを防止するために設け
られたものであり、内核芯より低比重にされる。
具体的には重量調整剤としての酸化亜鉛の配合を
内核芯の場合より少なくするか、あるいは酸化亜
鉛の配合量を皆無にすることによつて達成され
る。この中間層の比重をどの程度にするかは内核
芯の比重をどの程度にしたかによつて異なる。ま
た中間層の厚みは、内核芯の直径、外皮の厚み
（１〜３mm）によつて異なるが、3.2〜5.4mmの範
囲から選ばれる。このような中間層を得るために
は、ポリブタジエンゴム100部、アクリル酸亜鉛
またはメタクリル酸亜鉛10〜50部、酸化亜鉛０〜
30部および架橋剤ないし加硫剤として働く過酸化
物としてジクミルパーオキサイド１〜５部からな
るゴム組成物が適切であることがわかつた。 本発明のゴルフボールを製造する方法は、特に
限定されるものではないが、例えば内核芯用ゴム
組成物を金型で加熱加圧成形し、その周囲を中間
層用組成物から形成した一対の半球殻体で包み、
金型で加熱加圧成形したのち、さらにその周囲を
外皮用組成物から形成した一対の半球殻体で包み
高温で短時間加熱加圧成形する方法が採用され
る。また外皮用組成物を射出成形して中間層を包
み込んでもよい。なお、内核芯上に中間層を形成
するにあたつて、内核芯の表面をバフした方が密
着しやすい。また中間層と外皮との密着のために
も中間層の表面をバフする方が好ましい。 つぎに実施例をあげて本発明を説明する。 実施例１および比較例１〜５ 第１表に示す配合により直径41.2mmの６種類の
ゴルフボールを作製し、それらの諸元を第１表に
示した。 ３層構造のボール、すなわち実施例１、比較例
１、比較例３および比較例４のボールでは、内核
芯用組成物を金型中160℃で25分間加熱加圧成形
して内核芯を作製したのち、その周囲を中間層用
組成物から形成した一対の半球殻体で包み、さら
に金型中165℃で30分間加熱加圧成形した。外皮
は、外皮用組成物から形成した一対の半球殻体で
内核芯上の中間層の周囲を包み、金型中約170℃
で２分間加熱加圧成形することによつて形成し
た。なお、内核芯上に中間層を形成するにあたつ
ては内核芯の表面をバフし、また、外皮を中間層
上に形成するにあたつては中間層の表面をバフし
た。なお、二層構造の比較例２のボールは、内核
芯を上記実施例１のボールと同条件下で加熱加圧
成形したのち、得られた内核芯の周囲を外皮用組
成物から形成した一対の半球殻体で包み、金型中
約170℃で２分間加熱加圧成形することにより作
製した。また比較例５の糸巻きボールは糸巻芯を
外皮用組成物から形成した一対の半球殻体で包
み、金型約150℃で２分間加熱加圧成形すること
によつて作製した。

【表】 第１表に示すように、内核芯を高比重にした実
施例１のボールは、従来のツーピースボールであ
る比較例２のボールに比べてスピン量が多く、比
較例５の糸巻きボールに近い弾道を得ることがで
き、飛距離が大きかつた。これに対し比較例１の
ボールは実施例１のボール同様に３層構造である
が、内核芯の比重が小さいためスピン量が少な
く、そのため弾道が低く、飛距離も少なかつた。
また比較例３のボールは外皮の硬度が高いため、
スピン量が所望値まで向上せず、その結果、弾道
が低く、飛距離が少なかつた。なお、比較例４の
ボールは内核芯が大きすぎるため、重量がPGA
規格に合格せず、そのためボール特性は測定しな
かつた。 以上詳述したように、本発明のソリツドゴルフ
ボールは、ソリツドボールの特徴であるすぐれた
耐カツト性を保持しながら、糸巻きボールと同程
度の飛距離およびコントロール性を発揮すること
ができる。

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. １ 内核芯、中間層および外皮からなる３層構造
    であり、内核芯は、ゴム100重量部、アクリル酸
    亜鉛またはメタクリル酸亜鉛10〜50重量部、酸化
    亜鉛10〜150重量部および過酸化物１〜５重量部
    からなる加熱加圧成形されたゴム組成物であつ
    て、かつ、直径32mm以下で比重が1.50以上であ
    り、中間層は、ゴム100重量部、アクリル酸亜鉛
    またはメタクリル酸亜鉛10〜50重量部、酸化亜鉛
    ０〜30重量部および過酸化物１〜５重量部からな
    る加熱加圧成形されたゴム組成物であつて、か
    つ、内核芯の比重に反比例して低比重で、その厚
    みは3.2〜5.4mmであり、外皮は、厚みが１〜３mm
    で、外皮の硬度がシヨアーＤ硬度計で64以下であ
    ることを特徴とするソリツドゴルフボール。
