Claims (9)
- 電源と負荷との間で電力変換を行う電力変換装置であって、
前記電源から前記負荷への電力供給経路上に設けられているとともに、第1半導体材料を用いて構成された第1スイッチング素子と、
前記第1スイッチング素子と並列に接続されているとともに、前記第1半導体材料よりもバンドギャップの狭い第2半導体材料を用いて構成された第2スイッチング素子と、
電流指令値に応じて前記第1スイッチング素子を断続的にターンオンする第1スイッチング制御と、前記電流指令値に応じて前記第2スイッチング素子を断続的にターンオンする第2スイッチング制御とを、選択的に実行する制御装置とを備え、
前記第1スイッチング素子のサイズは、前記第2スイッチング素子のサイズよりも小さく、
前記制御装置は、前記電流指令値が第1閾値よりも小さいときは前記第1スイッチング制御を選択し、前記電流指令値が第2閾値よりも大きいときは前記第2スイッチング制御を選択し、
前記電力変換装置は、交流電力を出力するインバータを含み、
前記制御装置は、前記交流電力の出力周波数が所定の下限値未満のときは、前記電流指令値が前記第1閾値より小さいときでも、前記第2スイッチング制御を選択する、電力変換装置。 - 前記第2閾値は、前記第1閾値よりも大きく、
前記制御装置は、
前記第1スイッチング制御を実行しているときは、前記電流指令値が前記第2閾値を上回ったときに、前記第2スイッチング制御へ移行し、
前記第2スイッチング制御を実行しているときは、前記電流指令値が前記第1閾値を下回ったときに、前記第1スイッチング制御へ移行する、
請求項1に記載の電力変換装置。 - 前記制御装置は、前記第1スイッチング素子と前記第2スイッチング素子との少なくとも一方の温度に応じて、前記第1閾値と前記第2閾値の少なくとも一方を変更する、請求項1又は2に記載の電力変換装置。
- 前記第1スイッチング制御では、前記第1スイッチング素子が第1キャリア周波数でPWM制御され、
前記第2スイッチング制御では、前記第2スイッチング素子が第2キャリア周波数でPWM制御される、請求項1から3いずれか一項に記載の電力変換装置。 - 前記第1スイッチング制御における前記第1キャリア周波数と、前記第2スイッチング制御における前記第2キャリア周波数とは、同一の値である、請求項4に記載の電力変換装置。
- 前記第1スイッチング制御における前記第1キャリア周波数は、前記第2スイッチング制御における前記第2キャリア周波数とは異なる、請求項4に記載の電力変換装置。
- 前記電力変換装置は、交流電力を出力するインバータを含み、
前記制御装置は、前記交流電力の出力周波数に応じて、前記第1キャリア周波数と前記第2キャリア周波数の少なくとも一方を変更する、請求項5又は6に記載の電力変換装置。 - 前記第1半導体材料は炭化シリコン(SiC)であり、前記第2半導体材料はシリコン(Si)である、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の電力変換装置。
- 前記第1スイッチング素子はMOSFETであり、前記第2スイッチング素子はIGBTである、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の電力変換装置。
