Description
本出願は、2013年4月22日に出願された米国仮出願番号第61/814,810号、発明の名称「SWITCHABLE GAS AND LIQUID RELEASE AND DELIVERY DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS」の優先権を主張する。この文献の全ての内容は、参照によって本出願に援用される。
選択的に香りを輸送し、排出する(例えば、切換の多重制御によって所望の香りを放出する)ための複数の輸送チャネルを含むデバイス100の例示的な具体例においては、香り放出経路の幅又は直径を小さくすることによって、所望の構成又は管束内に多くの経路を実現することができる。このような例示的な実施形態では、デバイス100は、香り輸送チャネルのそれぞれに1つ以上の小型ファンを設け、又は複数のチャネルに1つのファンを接続し、香り輸送の効率をファン動作で改善することができる。例えば、図8Aに示すように、単一のファンを共有する設計によって、例示的なデバイスの組み立てが簡単になり、製造コストが抑制される。
匂い/香り輸送の効率及び効力を向上させるために、特に、加熱メカニズムを使うことなく常温で香りを送出する(これによって、デバイス構造が単純になり及びコストが低減される。)ために、本発明の一実施形態では、気泡をさらに分割して、全体的な気泡の表面積を大幅に増加させる。気泡のサイズをさらに分割した場合、例えば、直径2mmの気泡を直径0.2mmの小気泡(bubblet)にさらに分割した場合、同じ体積の気泡の表面積が100倍に増加し、香り付き気体の冷たい気泡への溶解速度が向上する。
ここに開示する香り送達デバイスは、「多重化(multiplexing)」(例えば、複数の香りの順次的又は時限的送達)が可能なように構成でき、この送達バイスから、自動的及び/又はオンデマンド方式で所望の香りを選択し、排出することができる。異なる香りの数が比較的少ない場合(例えば、50個未満の場合)、オン/オフ命令メカニズムによって香り放出チャンバのそれぞれを個別にアドレス指定できる。しかしながら、多重化システムにおいて使用できる異なる香りの総数が増加すると、個々の制御が複雑且つ煩雑になる(例えば、最大10,000個の異なる香りチャンバを含む多重化システム)。例えば、図13〜図18は、本発明に基づくラッチ可能磁気式香り放出メカニズム及び他のスイッチングを組み込んだX−Yマトリクス動作を示している。
Claims (16)
- 気体、蒸気又は液体を含む1つ以上の香り付き物質を輸送する送達デバイスであって、 前記1つ以上の香り付き物質を収容する1つ以上のチャンバを含むように構成されたカートリッジと、
前記カートリッジを保持するコンパートメントと、前記1つ以上の香り付き物質をデバイスから外部環境に排出する開口と、前記コンパートメントと前記開口との間に形成された1つ以上の輸送チャネルとを有し、前記1つ以上の輸送チャネルのそれぞれが、前記香り付き物質を対応する前記チャンバから前記開口に送達し、前記1つ以上の香り付き物質から香りを送達するように構成された筐体と、
前記1つ以上の輸送チャネルにそれぞれ接続された1つ以上のアクチュエータスイッチであって、各アクチュエータスイッチは、対応する輸送チャネル内に配置され、供給される信号に基づいて開位置と閉位置の間で移動するように磁気駆動されて動作し、前記対応する輸送チャネルから香り付き物質を選択的に通過させるアクチュエータスイッチと、
加圧された状態、ポンピングされた状態、又は流動状態を生成して、前記1つ以上の香り付き物質を輸送する機構と
を備え、
前記デバイスは、香り発生液体、溶媒又はオイル系流体を含む複数の流体を用いて生成された特定の気体を排出し、
前記特定の気体は、前記流体から気泡を形成し、前記気泡をナノスケール又はマイクロスケールチャネルを通して輸送し、前記気泡より全体的な表面積が増加した微小気泡を誘発することによって生成される、香り送達デバイス。 - 前記供給される信号は、1秒未満のパルス長を有するパルス電流又はパルス磁界を含む、請求項1記載のデバイス。
- 前記供給される信号は、複数サイクルの電流によって生成されるパルス磁界を含む、請求項1記載のデバイス。
- 磁界が消磁のために徐々に振幅を減少させて生成され、これにより、前記アクチュエータスイッチは、前記複数サイクルの電流が供給された後、更なる電力なしで前記開位置又は前記閉位置に移動するように駆動される、請求項3記載のデバイス。
- 前記アクチュエータスイッチは、前記閉位置で接続し、前記開位置で脱離される第1及び第2の係合磁気部品を含む磁気駆動式ラッチ可能ゲート制御構造を含み、
前記第1の係合磁気部品は、実質的に角形ループ磁気ループ材料を有するソレノイドコアから構成されたソレノイドを含み、
前記第2の係合磁気部品は、前記ソレノイドコアからの磁界の変化に応じて屈曲し又はその平行位置(translational position)を変化させ、前記輸送チャネル内の前記アクチュエータスイッチの開閉を駆動する、請求項1記載のデバイス。 - 前記第1及び第2の係合磁気部品の一方又は両方は、角形ループFe−Cr−Co系スピノーダル分解合金、Fe−Cr系合金、Fe−Ni系合金、Fe−Cr−Ni系合金、Fe−Co系合金、Fe−Mo系合金、Fe−Ni−Mo系合金、Fe−Si系合金、Cu−Ni−Fe系スピノーダル分解合金及びCu−Ni−Co系スピノーダル分解合金の少なくとも1つを含む、磁気合金を含む請求項5記載のデバイス。
- 前記第1の係合磁気部品は、前記輸送チャネル内に垂直又は水平に配置され、前記第2の係合磁気部品は、前記アクチュエータスイッチが前記閉位置にあるとき、前記第1及び第2の係合磁気部品の間を密封する柔軟な材料によってコーティングされた先端部を含む、請求項5記載のデバイス。
- 前記1つ以上の輸送チャネルは、対応するチャンバを前記筐体の開口のアレイに接続する、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールの輸送チャネルのアレイとして構成される、請求項1記載のデバイス。
- 前記カートリッジの前記チャンバ又は前記筐体の前記輸送チャネルの一方又は両方に含まれる多孔質材料から形成された香り変更構造を更に備え、
前記多孔質材料は、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールのワイヤ構造、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールのリボン構造、ナノ孔又はマイクロ孔を有するナノスケール又はマイクロスケール構造、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケール粒子、及び、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールカプセルの少なくとも1つを含み、
前記気泡は、前記香り変更構造に空気を通すことによって形成される、請求項1記載のデバイス。 - 前記香り発生液体は、前記香り発生液体の強制的流動、前記香り発生液体の泡立て、前記香り発生液体の毛管吸引、前記香り発生液体の断続的な気流又は真空吸引、又は吸い上げメカニズムの実装の1つ以上によって前記多孔質材料の前記ナノスケール又はマイクロスケール構造、粒子又はカプセルに供給される、請求項9記載のデバイス。
- 前記デバイスは、
ハンドヘルド型デバイス、
着用可能デバイス、及び
ある物体に取り付けられる固定デバイス
のうちの1つとして構成される、請求項1記載のデバイス。 - 前記デバイスは、前記香り付き物質の予めプログラムされた又は時限による放出及び排出を行うように構成されている、請求項1記載のデバイス。
- 前記筐体の前記開口に接続され、前記1つ以上の香り付き物質からの香りの放散又は拡散を制御する1つ以上の香り拡散器を更に備える請求項1記載のデバイス。
- 香りを排出する方法において、
デバイスの筐体内に構成された対応する輸送経路を介して、香り付き物質が収納されたカートリッジ内の対応するチャンバから、気体、蒸気又は液体を含む香り付き物質を移動させるステップと、
輸送チャネル内に配置されたラッチ可能ゲート制御メカニズムを、前記輸送チャネルを閉鎖する閉位置と、前記輸送チャネルを開放する開位置との間で駆動して、対応する香り付き物質を選択的に通過させるステップと、
前記デバイスから外部環境に選択された香り付き物質を排出するステップと、
前記対応するチャンバに収納される香り発生液体、溶媒又はオイル系流体を含む複数の流体を使用して特定の香り付き気体を排出するステップと、を含み、
前記特定の気体を排出するステップは、
ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールのワイヤ構造、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールのリボン構造、ナノ孔又はマイクロ孔によるナノスケール又はマイクロスケール構造、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケール粒子、及び、ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールカプセルの少なくとも1つを含むように構成されている多孔質材料内の香り発生液体、溶媒又はオイル系流体に空気を流して気泡を形成するステップと、
前記気泡をナノスケール又はマイクロスケールのアレイである輸送チャネルを通して輸送し、前記気泡より全体的な表面積が増加した微小気泡を誘発するステップと、
前記ナノスケール又はマイクロスケールチャネルの前記アレイから前記微小気泡を回収し、前記特定の香り付き気体を生成するステップと
を含む方法。 - 前記ラッチ可能ゲート制御メカニズムは、磁気、圧電又は熱駆動スイッチに基づいて前記閉位置及び前記開位置を切り換える、請求項14記載の方法。
- 前記ラッチ可能ゲート制御メカニズムを同期させて所定の時間に動作させるステップを更に含み、
前記排出は、前記香り付き物質の時限放出を用いて行われる、請求項14記載の方法。
