Claims (4)
- 中心電極を保持する絶縁体と、前記絶縁体の一部を覆う主体金具と、前記主体金具に接合された接地電極と、前記接地電極の表面に溶接されたチップと、を備えるスパークプラグを製造する製造方法において、
前記接地電極を接合した前記主体金具が前記絶縁体に組み付けられた組立体の、前記接地電極の前記表面と反対側の前記接地電極の裏面を第1電極に当て、前記接地電極のうち前記チップが溶接される予定の予定部以外の部分に当てた押え部材によって前記第1電極に対して前記接地電極を位置決めする位置決め工程と、
前記予定部に配置した前記チップを、第2電極を用いて前記予定部に押し付けるチップ押え工程と、
前記第1電極と前記第2電極との間に電流を流し抵抗溶接を行う溶接工程と、を備えるスパークプラグの製造方法。 - 前記位置決め工程において、前記押え部材が、前記チップ押え工程において前記第2電極が前記チップを押し付ける方向と同じ方向に、前記接地電極を押し付ける請求項1記載のスパークプラグの製造方法。
- 前記第1電極は、前記接地電極の前記裏面が当たる面の面積が、前記接地電極の前記裏面の面積よりも大きい請求項1又は2に記載のスパークプラグの製造方法。
- 前記溶接工程より前に、前記第1電極によって前記接地電極に作用する力の向きと同じ向きの力を加えて前記絶縁体を支持する支持工程を備える請求項1から3のいずれかに記載のスパークプラグの製造方法。
