Description
ホモポリプロピレン(融点:168℃)を芯成分とし、高密度ポリエチレン(融点:135℃)を鞘成分(100%繊維表面を占める)とする、引張り強さが6.5cN/dtexの芯鞘型高強度繊維(両端部を除いて高密度ポリエチレンが繊維表面を被覆、芯成分と鞘成分の体積比率=60:40、ヤング率:45cN/dtex、熱収縮率:7%(120℃)、繊維径:10μm、切断繊維長:5mm)を用意した。
芯鞘型高強度繊維90mass%と、ポリプロピレン極細繊維10mass%とをスラリー中に分散させ、湿式法(水平長網方式)により、個々のポリプロピレン極細繊維及び芯鞘型高強度繊維が分散した繊維ウエブを形成したこと以外は、実施例1と同様に、融着繊維ウエブの形成、厚さ調整、及びスルホン酸基の導入を実施し、繊維の融着のみによって形態を保持したセパレータを製造した。このセパレータの物性は表1に示す通りであった。
実施例1と同様に形成した融着繊維ウエブを、温度60℃の発煙硫酸溶液(15%SO3溶液)中に2分間浸漬した後、十分に水洗し、乾燥し、スルホン酸基を導入した。

比較例2と同様にして形成した融着繊維ウエブを、温度60℃の発煙硫酸溶液(15%SO3溶液)中に2分間浸漬した後、十分に水洗し、乾燥して、スルホン酸基を導入した。

(1)各セパレータから5cm角の試験片を採取し、それぞれ質量(A)を測定した。
(2)各試験片を電解液(1.3g/mLの水酸化カリウム水溶液)に浸漬し、試験片内の空隙を電解液で満たした。
(3)試験片の両面ともに、3枚のろ紙(型番:ADVANTEC−TYPE2)で試験片を挟み、1.23MPaの圧力で圧縮し、前記ろ紙で電解液を吸い取った。
(4)電解液を吸い取った試験片の質量(B)をそれぞれ測定し、次の式により保液率(R、単位:%)を算出した。この結果は表1に示す通りであった。

- 引張り強さが4.5cN/dtex以上のポリオレフィン系高強度繊維を含む不織布からなる電池用セパレータであり、不織布の147kPa荷重時の厚さが0.19mm以上かつ見掛密度が0.3g/cm3以下であることを特徴とする、電池用セパレータ。
- ポリオレフィン系高強度繊維が融着していることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の電池用セパレータ。
- 繊維径が4μm以下の極細繊維を更に含んでいることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2記載の電池用セパレータ。
- 繊維の融着のみによって形態を保持していることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の電池用セパレータ。
