Claims (5)
- 基板と、
前記基板上に形成された導波層とを備え、
前記導波層は、断面がリッジ形状を有するリッジ部からなる導波路を有し、
前記リッジ部は、第1のリッジ幅および第1の厚さを有する第1の部分と、前記第1のリッジ幅よりも広く前記基板の幅よりも狭い第2のリッジ幅および第2の厚さを有する第2の部分との組み合わせからなり、前記第2の部分の上面に前記第1の部分が形成された2段のリッジ構造であり、
前記第2の部分の側面に光吸収膜が形成されており、前記第2の部分の上面および前記第1の部分の上面および側面に前記光吸収膜が形成されていないことを特徴とする光導波路型偏光子。 - 前記導波層は、
前記導波路の形成領域以外の領域に設けられ、前記第2の厚さよりも薄い第3の厚さを有する第3の部分をさらに有し、
前記第3の厚さは、前記リッジ部の最大厚さの0.2倍以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光導波路型偏光子。 - 前記第2の部分の上面および前記第1の部分の上面および側面を覆う誘電体層をさらに有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の光導波路型偏光子。
- 前記導波層は、ニオブ酸リチウム膜からなることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の光導波路型偏光子。
- 前記ニオブ酸リチウム膜のc軸は基板面に対して垂直に配向されていることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の光導波路型偏光子。
