前記一対の基板のうちの一方の基板に設けられた、複数の直線部分および隣接する2本の前記直線部分の間に設けられたスリットを有する画素電極および前記画素電極と絶縁された共通電極と
を備え、
前記画素電極と前記共通電極とによって、前記液晶層に、正極性および負極性の画素電圧が60Hz未満の周波数で切り替えて印加されるように構成されており、
前記ネガ型液晶化合物を含み前記ポジ型液晶化合物を含まないネガ型液晶材料を用いて1Hzで駆動したときのフリッカ率は、前記ポジ型液晶化合物を含み前記ネガ型液晶化合物を含まないポジ型液晶材料を前記所定周波数で駆動したときのフリッカ率よりも小さい、液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶層に、前記正極性および負極性の画素電圧が30Hz以下の周波数で切り替えて印加されるように構成されている、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
