本出願は、2011年10月24日に出願された米国仮出願第61/550,560号の特典を主張する。
A.複数本の長寸要素を位置決めし、各長寸要素は、第1開口および関連する第1開口内へと延在することで、各第1開口を夫々の第2開口に対して整列させ、
B.各第1開口は各長寸要素により、関連する第2開口に対する整列が維持され乍ら、上記第1および第2の構成要素を相互に結合し、且つ、
C.段階Bに引き続き、各長寸要素を除去する、という各段階を備えて成る。
A.複数本の長寸要素を位置決めする段階であって、上記第1および第2の端部表面間にろう付け材料を配設し、各長寸要素は、第1開口および関連する第2開口内へと延在することで、各第1開口を関連する第2開口に対して整列させるという段階と、
B.各長寸要素に対し、上記ろう付け材料に対する該長寸要素のろう付けを阻止する結合阻止材料を適用する段階と、
C.各第1開口は各長寸要素により、関連する第2開口に対する整列が維持され乍ら、上記ろう付け材料に対して熱を加えて上記第1および第2の端部表面を相互にろう付けする段階と、
D.段階Cに引き続き、各長寸要素および残留する結合阻止材料を除去する段階と、を備えて成る。
この方法は、
A.上記縦溝底部および上記冷却液孔の夫々の半径に実質的に等しい半径を各々が有する複数本のゲージ・ワイヤを配備する段階と、
B.各ゲージ・ワイヤを、夫々の冷却液孔および夫々の縦溝底部内へと挿入し、各縦溝底部を関連する冷却液孔に対して整列させ、且つ、上記第1円筒状周縁を上記第2円筒状周縁に対して整列させる段階と、
C.上記第1および第2の端部表面間にろう付け材料を位置決めする段階と、
D.各ゲージ・ワイヤの露出部分に対し、結合阻止材料を適用し、上記ろう付け材料に対する上記ゲージ・ワイヤのろう付けを阻止する段階と、
E.上記縦溝底部は、上記ゲージ・ワイヤにより、関連する冷却液孔に対する整列が維持され乍ら、上記ろう付け材料に対して熱を加え、上記第1および第2の端部表面を相互にろう付けする段階と、
F.段階Eに引き続き、上記ゲージ・ワイヤを除去し、且つ、残留する結合阻止材料を溶媒中に溶解させる段階と、を備えて成る。
Claims (10)
- 金属切削チップをシャフトに対して結合する方法であって、
金属切削チップは、該金属切削チップの第1端部表面と交差する複数の第1開口を含み、シャフトは、該シャフトの第2端部表面と交差する複数の第2開口を含む方法において、
A.複数本の長寸要素を位置決めするステップAであって、第1および第2端部表面間にろう付け材料を配設し、各長寸要素は第1開口および関連する第2開口内へと延在することで、各第1開口を関連する第2開口に対して整列させるステップAと、
B.各長寸要素に対し、ろう付け材料に対する長寸要素のろう付けを阻止する結合阻止材料を適用するステップBと、
C.各第1開口は各長寸要素により、関連する第2開口に対する整列が維持され乍ら、ろう付け材料に対して熱を加えて第1および第2の端部表面を相互にろう付けするステップCと、
D.ステップCに引き続き、各長寸要素および残留する結合阻止材料を除去するステップDと、
を備えて成り、
各第1開口は金属切削チップの外周縁に形成された縦溝を備え、
各第2開口はシャフトを軸心方向に貫通延在する貫通孔を備え、
各縦溝は、夫々の貫通孔の半径に等しい半径を有する丸み付き底部を有し、且つ、
各丸み付き底部の中心は、夫々の貫通孔の中心に対して整列される、
方法。 - ろう付け材料はろう付け箔体を備えて成り、且つ、
前記ステップAは、各長寸要素を前記ろう付け箔体における夫々の凹所を貫通して延在させるステップを備える請求項1記載の方法。 - 金属切削チップおよびシャフトは、夫々、第1および第2円筒状外周縁を有し、且つ、
前記ステップAは第1および第2円筒状外周縁を相互に対して整列させる請求項1記載の方法。 - 各長寸要素はゲージ・ワイヤを備える請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記ステップDは残留する結合阻止材料を溶媒中に溶解させる段階を備える請求項1記載の方法。
- 第1および第2端部表面はカーバイドを備える請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記ステップBとCとの間において、各長寸要素を金属切削チップおよびシャフトに対して軸心方向に移動させ、結合阻止材料を第1および第2開口に進入させるステップを更に備える請求項1記載の方法。
- 金属切削チップをシャフトに対して結合する方法であって、金属切削チップおよびシャフトは相互に対向するカーバイド端部表面を含み、金属切削チップは、第1円筒状外周縁と、該第1円筒状外周縁に形成されて円周方向に離間された複数本の縦溝とを含み、各縦溝は丸み付き底部を有する実質的にU形状の断面であり、シャフトは、金属切削チップの半径に実質的に等しい半径を有する第2円筒状外周縁を含み、シャフトを複数本の冷却液孔が貫通延在し、各冷却液孔は関連する縦溝底部の半径に実質的に等しい半径を有する方法において、
A.縦溝底部および冷却液孔の夫々の半径に実質的に等しい半径を各々が有する複数本のゲージ・ワイヤを配備するステップAと、
B.各ゲージ・ワイヤを、夫々の冷却液孔およびその関連する縦溝底部内へと挿入し、各縦溝底部を関連する冷却液孔に対して整列させ、且つ、第1円筒状外周縁を第2円筒状外周縁に対して整列させるステップBと、
C.第1および第2端部表面間にろう付け材料を位置決めするステップCと、
D.各ゲージ・ワイヤの露出部分に対し、結合阻止材料を適用し、ろう付け材料に対するゲージ・ワイヤのろう付けを阻止するステップDと、
E.縦溝底部は、ゲージ・ワイヤにより、夫々の冷却液孔に対する整列が維持され乍ら、ろう付け材料に対して熱を加え、第1および第2端部表面を相互にろう付けするステップEと、
F.ステップEに引き続き、ゲージ・ワイヤを取り除き、且つ、残留する結合阻止材料を溶媒中に溶解させるステップFと、
を備えて成る方法。 - 前記ステップDとEとの間において、各ゲージ・ワイヤを金属切削チップおよびシャフトに対して移動させ、各ゲージ・ワイヤの露出部分上の結合阻止材料を、各縦溝底部および各冷却液孔に進入させるステップを更に備える請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記ステップCは、ろう付け材料が、夫々のゲージ・ワイヤの通過に対処する凹所を有するろう付け箔体を備えて成り乍ら、前記ステップDに先立ち実施される請求項8記載の方法。
