Description
1)ヘミアセタールエステル化ポリアミック酸と非アミド系溶媒(ただし、水を除く。)とからなる電極用バインダ樹脂溶液。
2)前記電極用バインダ樹脂溶液を用いて得られる電極用塗液。
3)前記電極用塗液を用いて得られる電極。
(式中、R1は四価の有機基であり、R2は二価の有機基であり、R3は一般式(2)
で表される有機基を表す。一般式(2)中、Xはアルキル基を表し、Yはアルキル基またはシクロアルキル基を表し、Zは水素原子またはアルキル基を表す。前記アルキル基やシクロアルキル基の水素は、その一部がヒドロキシル基またはハロゲン原子に置換されていても良い。前記アルキル基は直鎖状であっても分岐状であってもよい。Y及びZは結合して環構造を形成しても良い。nは1〜100の正数を表す。)
実施例および比較例で使用したポリアミック酸粉体Aを以下のようにして調製した。すなわち、特許第2951484号実施例3記載の方法により、3,3’,4,4’−ビフェニルテトラカルボン酸二無水物(BPDA)と4,4’−オキシジアニリン(ODA)から[η]が1.96のポリアミック酸粉体Aを得た。
ポリアミック酸粉体Aにn−ブチルビニルエーテルを添加し、GBL(γ−ブチロラクトン)中、撹拌下、40℃で24時間反応させ、前記一般式(2)において、Xがメチル基、Zが水素、Yがn−ブチル基であるヘミアセタールエステル化ポリアミック酸をバインダとして含む均一な電極用ポリイミド前駆体溶液A−1(固形分濃度:5質量%)を得た。ここで、n−ブチルビニルエーテルの使用量は、ポリアミック酸の構成ユニット1モルに対し3.5モルであった。このポリイミド前駆体溶液と平均粒径0.8μmのシリコン粒子と希釈用のGBLとを混合、撹拌して電極(リチウム二次電池用負極)活物質であるシリコン粒子が均一に分散された電極形成用塗液a−1を得た。ここで、この塗液の総固形分(ヘミアセタールエステル化ポリアミック酸とシリコン粒子)濃度は25質量%であり、バインダ樹脂の配合量は、シリコン粒子の質量当たり25質量%であった。
n−ブチルビニルエーテルを2−ヒドロキシエチルビニルエーテルとしたこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして、前記一般式(2)において、Xがメチル基、Zが水素、Yが2−ヒドロキシエチル基であるヘミアセタールエステル化ポリアミック酸をバインダとして含む電極用ポリイミド前駆体溶液A−2および電極形成用塗液a−2を得た。
n−ブチルビニルエーテルをシクロヘキシルビニルエーテルとしたこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして、前記一般式(2)において、Xがメチル基、Zが水素、Yがシクロヘキシル基であるヘミアセタールエステル化ポリアミック酸をバインダとして含む電極用ポリイミド前駆体溶液A−3および電極形成用塗液a−3を得た。
n−ブチルビニルエーテルを添加することなく、実施例1と同様にして、電極用ポリイミド前駆体溶液を得ようとしたが、ポリアミック酸粉体AはGBLに完全には溶解せず、均一な溶液を得ることはできなかった。
n−ブチルビニルエーテルを1,2−ジメチルイミダゾールとし、GBLを水としたこと以外は、実施例1と同様の操作を行い、ポリアミック酸の1,2−ジメチルイミダゾール塩をバインダとして含む均一な、総固形分(ポリアミック酸のイミダゾール塩とシリコン微粒子)濃度が25質量%の電極用ポリイミド前駆体溶液A−4および電極形成用塗液a−4を得た。
1,2−ジメチルイミダゾールを2ーエチル−4−メチルイミダゾールとしたこと以外は、比較例2と同様の操作を行い、ポリアミック酸の2ーエチル−4−メチルイミダゾールの塩をバインダとして含む均一な電極用ポリイミド前駆体溶液A−5および電極形成用塗液a−5を得た。
前記ポリイミド前駆体溶液A−1〜A−5を25℃で100時間放置した後のポリアミック酸の固有粘度を測定した所、A−1〜A−3についてはその低下率が10%未満であったのに対し、A−4〜A−5についてはその低下率が10%を超えていた。
実施例1〜3および比較例2〜3で得られた電極形成用塗液a−1〜a−5を基材である集電体である厚さ18μmの銅箔上にフィルムアプリケーターを用いて塗布し、その塗膜を、窒素ガス雰囲気化、50℃で10分間、80℃で30分間、120℃で30分間、200℃で20分間、300℃で20分間、次いで350℃で10分間加熱処理して、厚みが約40μmで、気孔率が約30%の活物質層が形成されたリチウム二次電池用電極を得た。(これらの電極をa1〜a5とする。)これらの電極を10cm角(100cm2)に切り出した後、任意の9か所の活物質層の厚みを測定した。その結果、電極a1〜a3は、その厚みの変動幅が平均値に対し±5%以下であったのに対し、電極a4〜a5は前記変動幅が±5%を超えていた。
